NOLA…we came, we saw and can’t wait to conquer!

We’re back!  What a fun and productive weekend in NOLA for the Niche Mommy team.  There was so much to do, see and eat in just three days.  A city full of life, culture, great music and delicious food!

Where to eat?!

Known for its famous dishes and delicious food, we were on a mission to try every traditional Big Easy dish.  With a list of recommendations in hand and an empty stomach, first stop on the tour list was Mr. B’s Bistro for some Louisiana style oysters and pork belly.  That was just the start for the oysters.

Next stop…Felix’s Oyster Bar, a traditional oyster bar.  We sat at the bar in front of the chucker as we downed two dozen oysters learning about the history of this infamous oyster bar.

Who waits in line at Cafe du Monde?  Not this Niche Mommy team who had just an hour until their brunch reservation.  We couldn’t leave without having some beignets and cafe au lait.  Creole style jazz brunch anyone? Palace Cafe was the place to be and eat while listening to a live jazz band play. What is a trip to NOLA without visiting La Bayou serving up a taste of New Orleans including shrimp-n-grits with fried green tomatoes, and a sampler of crawfish etoufee, jambalaya, and red beans and rice…not a perfect trip!

What to do?!

It may not have been Mardi Gras, but it was St. Patrick’s day.  So what’s NOLA without a parade right on Bourbon Street with floats lit up in green.  If you weren’t wearing green, there were plenty of green beads to be worn.

Jackson Square, heart of the French Quarter, was bustling with street performers, artists selling their creations and home of the Steamboat Natchez.  The square was originally known as Place d’Armes, and was renamed to honor President Andrew Jackson, whose statue anchors the square.

We had to test our luck at Harrah’s Casino.  The largest casino in the South right on Canal Street.  We placed our bets, but no winning fortune for us un-fortunate-ly (pun intended!).

This is just a taste of the fun to be had when The Niche Mommy Conference goes to N’awlins in August.  Laissez les bon temps rouler and join your favorite brands and bloggers in NOLA.

And now for the conference hotel…….Drum roll please!!!!
